RØDECaster Video software: Scene Builder, remote control, firmware.
The switcher is where the RØDECaster App does the most. Firmware 1.4.03 (1 October 2026) added 4K UHD capture; app 2.0.114 supports it. Covers the Video, Video S and Video CORE.
What the app does on the Video
Put the RØDECaster Video on the same network as your computer — Wi-Fi or Ethernet — or connect its USB 2 port with a SuperSpeed cable. Open the RØDECaster App, pick the Video from the left-hand menu, and open the Scene Builder.
Scene Builder
The bottom-centre of the Scene Builder is laid out like the switcher’s own panel, and every click is mirrored live on the hardware, even over Wi-Fi: switching, previewing, overlays, chroma key, media. In the middle is a live feed — Program in Instant mode, Preview in Studio mode. Build seven scenes from templates (picture-in-picture, split screen and more) or from scratch with your own frames, crops and rounded corners. The full guide, with keyboard shortcuts.
Media and Shows
The media library on the left is the content of the microSD card: PNG, JPEG, WAV, MP3 and MP4. Images up to 1920×1080, videos exactly 1920×1080. Drag files onto the seven media buttons, set loop or once, Switch To, and fade times for audio. A Show saves all seven scenes and settings together and can be renamed, exported to your computer and imported later.
Firmware and the network
Select the Video in the app and follow the prompt to update. Then Advanced Configuration → System → Network → Wi-Fi to join a network, which also enables direct streaming. Storage drives on USB 3 must be exFAT; the app can eject and erase them (since 2.0.104).
USB 1 sends video (Program, Preview, Multiview or any camera) plus multitrack audio and a USB Chat channel to the computer. USB 2 is the control port for the app and a second, MFi-certified audio interface. USB 3 is the recording drive. USB 4 and 5 take UVC webcams, capture devices and RØDE USB audio devices.
