RØDECaster Duo

RØDECaster Duo software: the app, the firmware, the setup.

The two-input console uses the same RØDECaster App and the same firmware line as the Pro II, currently 1.7.6. Everything below is specific to the Duo.

What the app does on the Duo

Plug the Duo’s USB 1 port into your computer, open the RØDECaster App, and select the Duo from the left-hand list. You get the firmware version and storage, and the same configuration pages as the Pro II: Audio Setup, Device Configuration, SMART pads and Transfer Recordings.

Seven channels, four faders

The Duo has four physical faders and three virtual ones, so seven assignable channels fed by two combo inputs, the wireless receiver, Bluetooth, USB and the pads. Firmware 1.7.3 expanded the Duo’s virtual faders and the app added support for it in version 2.0.110 alongside dedicated wireless channels.

Six SMART pads

Six programmable pads with bank switching for sounds, voice effects, MIDI commands and automated mixer actions, all loadable from the computer. SMART pads guide.

Phones and iPads

One of the Duo’s USB-C ports is MFi-certified, so it works as an audio interface for an iPhone or iPad directly. The desktop app still talks to it over USB 1.

Firmware

Same line as the Pro II. Over-network update is the recommended method, or connect to the app over USB. Firmware guide.
