The RØDECaster Video Scene Builder.
Building scenes in the app, media and overlays, Shows, remote control, and every keyboard shortcut.
Opening it
With the RØDECaster Video on the same network as the computer, or on USB 2, open the RØDECaster App, select the Video in the left-hand menu and open the Scene Builder.
Remote control and the output display
The bottom-centre of the Scene Builder is laid out like the switcher’s own panel. Every action you take there happens live on the hardware, even over Wi-Fi: switching scenes, enabling overlays, chroma keys and more. The centre of the window is a live feed from the Video — Program in Instant mode, Preview in Studio mode, labelled PGM or PVW above and to the right.
Shows
“Default Show” at the top is the name of the current Show. A Show stores every setting and all seven scenes at once. Click its logo to rename it, change the logo, export it to your computer or import a Show you made earlier.
Media
The media library on the left is the content of the microSD card. Add Media imports PNG, JPEG, WAV, MP3 and MP4 files; images up to 1920×1080, videos exactly 1920×1080. Light the Media function button purple and drag a file onto one of the media buttons A–G. Videos can play once, loop, or Switch To another source when they finish; audio files get start, end and fade times. Media then switches like any camera and can be placed in scenes the same way. Since app 2.0.104 the library is searchable and filterable.
Building a scene
Click an empty scene button A–G. From the right-hand menu choose a Template — picture-in-picture, split screen and a few more creative layouts, the same ones the switcher offers on its own — or Custom.
A templated scene shows its frames as lettered bars: A, B, C, D and BG for the background. Hover to see where each sits, click to assign an input (1–6) or media, or drag media from the library onto a frame.
A custom scene starts empty. Add frames with +, delete one with the trash icon, swap its source with the arrows icon, and drag the bars to re-order which frame sits in front. With a frame selected, drag its corners to scale, its edges to crop, and its middle to move; the bar beneath it takes exact X/Y, width and height, and its left-most button pans the cropped area. Rounded corners apply to every layer and overlay — one control for a template, per-layer for a custom scene, which is how you get a circular picture-in-picture.
There is no save step: scenes are live as you build them. Reassign moves a scene to another button. If you have built a set worth keeping, name the Show and export it.
