Transferring and exporting recordings.
Getting recordings off the microSD card with the RØDECaster App: Transfer Mode, trimming, platform presets and batch export.
Transfer Mode
With the Pro II or Duo connected over USB 1, select it in the app and click Transfer Recordings. The app asks you to put the console into Transfer Mode; click Continue. Every recording on the microSD card is then listed, latest first — the drop-down changes the order.
Reviewing a recording
Select a recording to play it back. The arrow and marker buttons skip through it, the mini navigation bar above the main waveform moves quickly through long files, and the magnifying glasses in the top-right zoom in and out. Both the real time and the elapsed time sit under the waveform.
Trimming
Drag the start and end markers to where the episode actually begins and ends. The trim is applied on export; nothing on the card is altered.
Export settings
In the bottom-right corner choose one of the popular podcast distribution platforms and the app sets the optimal format for it. Or choose Custom and set the format, sample rate, bit rate and loudness yourself. Click Export and pick a destination folder. To export several recordings at once, tick their check boxes first.
Deleting
Delete removes a recording from the SD card permanently; tick several to delete them together. You can also delete on the console itself from the recordings list, reached by tapping the Show icon in the top-right of the touchscreen.
The microphone app gained the same ideas for its devices: a trimming tool in 2.0.103, loudness correction and bit-depth options in 2.0.99, and local-folder loading in 2.0.111.
